A global network of professionals and academics dedicated to the study of the U.S. copyright system
CopyrightX is an initiative organized by Harvard Law School, the HarvardX distance learning initiative, and the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University.
It consists of a specialized 12-week course on copyright law (Copyright), offered in three formats:
a) A residential course on Copyright Law, led by Professor William Fisher III at Harvard Law School.
b) An online course divided into 25 student sections, under the guidance of a Harvard Teaching Fellow.
c) Affiliate Courses organized by other educational institutions, led by intellectual property law specialists.
The Ibero-American Center for Legal Studies, in collaboration with Law and Global Society as a member of the global CopyrightX community, has obtained Affiliate Course status for Spain.
Since 2020, it has been organizing the CopyrightX Spain Affiliate Course, with the collaboration of Professor William Fisher III for CopyrightX at Harvard Law School.
The CopyrightX Spain Affiliate Course also benefits from the collaboration of the Real Colegio Complutense at Harvard University.
Its development, content, and structure are especially aimed at legal professionals, professors, and students from Ibero-America.
The CopyrightX Spain Affiliate Course aims to provide an in-depth understanding of U.S. Copyright Law, with a strong emphasis on the theories that underpin intellectual property law, as well as its influence on Continental European and global intellectual property law.
This 12-week program has been specifically designed to be held simultaneously at Harvard Law School in Cambridge, MA, and at various locations worldwide. The program combines prerecorded lectures with 13 live seminars, and both the lecture period and exams are conducted in a hybrid format (in-person/online).
Additionally, a residential period is organized every two years in Cambridge, MA, which includes participation in the CopyrightX Annual Summit at Harvard Law School. Successful completion of the course, along with passing the exam administered by Harvard Law School, will earn participants an official certificate issued by Harvard Law School and the Berkman Klein Center at Harvard University.
The course begins at the end of January, and applications must be submitted by January 20.
